WHAT IS AQUILA CARE?

The groups promoted in these pages had their origins in the Aquila Care Trust, a UK-wide registered charity that existed and operated between 1991 and 2007 for the purpose of supporting people experiencing the trauma of relationship breakdown.

They now operate as a network of independent groups, run by men and women who have all experienced, and recovered from, a relationship breakdown or divorce. As they themselves experienced fear, anger, hopelessness and the pain of rejection, they discovered that support and understanding from fellow strugglers played a vital rôle in their own recovery and wanted to make this support and care available to others.

This network of local groups offers a range of support services, including a recovery programme called BREAKTHROUGH. Breakthrough is run as an 8-week programme or as residential and non-residential weekend programmes to make it accessible to peopel from across the UK

Every Breakthrough programme is facilitated by two (occasionally three) trained, experienced co-ordinators, each of whom has worked through the recovery process from their own broken relationship.
